Rainbow Medical

The Sagol School of Neuroscience has announced a new scientific collaboration with Rainbow Medical, a unique private operational investment company that seeds and grows breakthrough med tech innovations.

Founded by seasoned executives Leon Recanati, Yossi Gross, and Efi Cohen Arazi, Rainbow Medical is focused on developing substantial medical device technologies for large unmet medical needs.

The scientific first joint project starting in the coming months will be led by Dr. Izhak Michaelevski from Biochemistry department at the Life Sciences Faculty and the Sagol School of Neuroscience in Tel Aviv University.  The project is designed to elucidate a potential use of externally elicited electric current in elimination of specific compounds or proteins toxic for neuronal activity from the brain.

"By working closely with Rainbow Medical, one of the leading players in the medical device arena in Israel, we can create a synergy that accelerates the development of new technologies in the field of brain science," noted Prof. Uri Ashery, Head of Sagol School of Neuroscience.

The Sagol School of Neuroscience, which opened in 2011 at the Tel Aviv University, maintains close relationships with industry as part of its ongoing philosophy. The school initiated a unique collaboration between the researchers and the industry called BrainBoost, "This initiative aims to boost translational research in the field of brain disorders" says Dr. Dana Bar-On, Head of industry-academia cooperation at the Sagol School of Neuroscience.
